Make handmade trustworthy again.
The word “handmade” has worn thin. Marketplaces fill up with resellers, mass-produced imports and shops that never touched a tool. Maeker exists to fix that. We check every Maeker before they can sell.
The problem we refuse to ship
When anyone can call anything “handmade”, buyers lose the one thing worth paying for: knowing a real person made it. Real Maekers get drowned out by cheap fakes, and trust quietly drains out of the whole market. We think that’s backwards. The Maeker should be the hardest thing to fake. So we check the Maeker first.
How vetting works
Becoming a Maeker is deliberately harder than it is anywhere else. Three checks stand between an application and a live shop:
- 01
Identity, verified
Every applicant proves who they are. A real name and a real person behind the shop. No anonymous storefront drop-shipping someone else’s goods.
- 02
Proof of the craft
Maekers show us their workspace, pieces that are still being made, and a video of them at work. We check the process against the product. You can’t fake a wheel, a loom or a bench.
- 03
Approved by hand
No algorithm waves anyone through. Each application is reviewed and approved one at a time. If something doesn’t add up, it doesn’t get listed.
Built in the EU, for the EU
Maeker is European first. Your data stays in the EU and is handled under GDPR by default. We’d rather grow slowly and keep that promise than scale on shortcuts.
