Prohibited & Restricted Items

Maeker is a marketplace for handmade goods made by the seller. To keep buyers safe and sellers on the right side of the law, some items may not be listed at all, and others may only be listed if they meet the conditions below. Every seller agrees to this policy when they publish a listing. We enforce it through buyer/seller reports and admin review — see Reporting & enforcement at the end.

This policy is in addition to each seller's own General Terms (AGB) and to our Platform Terms of Service. Where local law is stricter, local law applies.

Prohibited — never allowed

  • Weapons and dangerous goods — firearms, ammunition, explosives, and their parts; knives or replicas sold as weapons; self-defence weapons where regulated.
  • Illegal drugs and paraphernalia, and regulated substances offered without the required authorisation.
  • Counterfeits and IP infringement — items that copy a brand, another Maeker's work, or protected characters/designs without the right to do so. Maeker is for the seller's own original handmade work.
  • Recalled, unsafe, or non-compliant products, including items that fail applicable EU product-safety or labelling rules.
  • Hazardous materials — toxic, flammable, or otherwise dangerous substances that can't be shipped safely and lawfully.
  • Live animals, and products from endangered or protected species (CITES).
  • Human remains or body parts.
  • Adult or sexually explicit material, and any content involving minors.
  • Hateful, harassing, or violent content, or items promoting it.
  • Stolen goods, or anything the seller does not have the right to sell.
  • Digital-only resale of others' work, mass-produced drop-shipped goods, or reselling items the seller did not make.
  • AI-generated product images or designs presented as handmade work.

Restricted — only with the required conditions

  • Food, cosmetics, and things applied to the body — allowed only where the seller meets all applicable safety, ingredient-labelling, and registration rules for the destination country.
  • Products for children and toys — must meet the relevant EU toy-safety and labelling requirements.
  • Electrical items — must meet the relevant safety and conformity (e.g. CE) requirements.
  • Alcohol and items containing regulated substances — only where lawful and correctly labelled, and never sold to minors.
  • Medical or health claims — items may not be marketed as diagnosing, treating, or curing any condition unless lawfully authorised to do so.

Reporting & enforcement

Anyone can report a listing, review, shop, or message using the Report control shown on it. Reports go to our moderation team, who may:

  • remove the listing or review,
  • suspend the shop, and/or
  • notify the affected seller with the reason (a statement of reasons).

Sellers who disagree with a decision can reply to the notice and ask for another review. Serious or repeated breaches can lead to permanent removal from Maeker. Illegal content may be reported to the competent authorities.
